Auba strikes twice as Gunners beat Newcastle 3-0

That's all from us today folks, we hope you enjoyed the game!

This win moves Arsenal up to 10th and extends their unbeaten run to six games. They will now turn their attentions to the FA Cup at the weekend, as they face either Southampton or Shrewsbury Town. Meanwhile Newcastle remain 15th, nine games without a win and they face Aston Villa next time out at the weekend.

Arsenal secure a comfortable 3-0 victory over Newcastle, thanks to a second half brace from Aubameyang and a strike from Saka. Once they got the opening goal it was very comfortable for the hosts, with Leno not tested at the other end. They could have scored more, but Darlow was in fine form, pulling off a number of saves to deny the Gunners.

90' + 3' FULL-TIME: ARSENAL 3-0 NEWCASTLE

90' + 2' The pace has really dropped in the last few minutes, with Arsenal just sitting back and playing the ball comfortably around the pitch, with Newcastle unable to win possession back.

90' There will be a minimum of three minutes added time played at the end of the second half.

89' Decent chance! David Luiz gets into a good position in the box as a corner is whipped towards the near post, however, he gets his timings wrong as it strikes his shoulder and flies over the bar.

86' Free-kick to Arsenal in a very good shooting position, after Lascelles catches Lacazette late around 25 yards out and Willian steps up to take it, but he drills it straight into the Newcastle wall.

84' Smith Rowe has either scored (2) or assisted (5) in seven of his 10 appearances for Arsenal in all competitions this season, whilst the Englishman has provided two more assists than any other player for the Gunners this campaign (5).

81' Newcastle haven't been able to get the ball up to Wilson much in this second half, the striker has been very isolated up top at times and hasn't had a sniff at goal.

74' Arsenal are nicely playing the ball around the pitch at the moment, making Newcastle do all of the running and the Gunners look very comfortable.

72' Penalty appeal! Lacazette goes down after a battle for the ball with Lewis after Tierney lofted a cross into the box and the striker went down under pressure. However, it looked very soft and nothing is given.

71' Arsenal have kept 25 Premier League clean sheets against Newcastle – only Manchester United have kept more against a specific opponent in the competition’s history (27 against both Tottenham and Aston Villa).

66' SAVE! Darlow denies Lacazette from close range, after the striker was unmarked at the far post and he powered a header towards goal. However, the keeper makes himself as big as possible and makes an excellent stop.

66' Not too far away! Aubameyang finds Tierney down the left, who drills a superb ball across the six-yard box, however, Lacazette just can't get there in time.

64' No sign of any changes for either side just yet, but Newcastle must be thinking about making some as they are defending deep at the moment and aren't getting close to testing Leno.

62' It will be very difficult for Newcastle to get back into the game now, with Arsenal looking very comfortable and should be able to see the match out.

58' Blocked! Saka races into the box and plays a quick one-two before receiving the ball back and firing a shot towards goal. However, Krafth gets across well and makes a great block.

56' Good effort! Nice build up play by Newcastle, with Wilson and Carroll linking up well on the edge of the box and it falls to Carroll, who drills a low strike towards goal. However, it flies just wide of the left-hand post.

54' Newcastle have won five of their last nine away Premier League games in London (D1 L3), having won just two of their previous 20 such visits before that (D3 L15).

52' It will be interesting to see how Newcastle react to going a goal down now, will they push forward in numbers and look to test Leno? The Arsenal keeper has yet to have a save to make.

49' Shelvey whips another corner into the box, but the ball in is poor and easily cut out by Arsenal at the near post. Wasted opportunity.

47' SAVE! Excellent stop by Darlow to deny Lacazette early on in the second half! Saka lofts a ball into the box, which takes a deflection and Lacazette brings it down and drills it towards the bottom left-hand corner of the net. However, Darlow gets down quickly and pushes it out wide.

46' The second half is under way!

Newcastle have defended well, but they have been put under a lot of pressure from Arsenal and it could only be a matter of time for the hosts manage to break the deadlock.

Arsenal with the better chances in the first half, but they couldn't find the breakthrough goal so it is goalless between Arsenal and Newcastle at the break. Aubameyang has gone close on two occasions, only to be denied by the woodwork and Darlow, whilst Luiz wasn't too far at the very end of the half with a header.

45' HALF-TIME: ARSENAL 0-0 NEWCASTLE

45' Close! David Luiz manages to get away from Lascelles as a corner is whipped into the box and he powers a header towards goal, but it flies just wide of the post.

44' SAVE! Aubameyang takes on Longstaff and Almiron down the left and he whips a cross into the box, which takes a slight deflection and flies towards goal, causing Darlow to dive across and push it past the box.

43' Newcastle win their first corner of the game late on in the half, but it comes to nothing, with Arsenal comfortably clearing the danger.

41' There isn’t long left to play before the end of the first half now, can either side break the deadlock before the half-time whistle?

39' Steve Bruce has never won an away Premier League game against Arsenal (D3 L8), with his sides scoring just three goals in 11 away games against the Gunners.

37' Despite the pressure, Darlow hasn't had too much to do in the Newcastle goal, his main piece of action was the save to deny Saka early on.

35' Penalty shout! Aubameyang takes on Longstaff deep inside the Newcastle box, but the midfielder holds his ground and uses his body to see the ball out of play, with Aubameyang falling to the ground. Nothing given.

33' Newcastle have defended well for the most part so far, but the pressure is starting to build from Arsenal and it looks like it may only be a matter of time before they find that clinical pass in the final third.

31' We’re past the half an hour mark now at the Emirates and it remains goalless between Arsenal and Newcastle, with the hosts having the best chances of the game so far.

29' The game is starting to become more open now, with both teams pushing forward on the counter and trying to catch their opponents off guard at the back.

27' CHANCE! Excellent counter by Arsenal, it starts with a long ball over the top for Smith Rowe, who gets into the box and then pulls it back to Aubameyang who was sprinting forward and he should be testing Darlow. However, he powers his effort just over the Newcastle crossbar.

26' Aubameyang has either scored (3) or assisted (2) in five of his six games against Newcastle in all competitions, finding the net in each of his last three against the Magpies.

24' Not too far away! Newcastle counter quickly and Almiron does well down the right, he cuts inside and plays a one-two with Carroll, before firing a shot at goal from the edge of the box. However, his effort flies high over the bar.

22' Wild effort! Partey goes for goal with an ambitious effort from long range, he tries to curl it towards goal, but he gets too much on it and the ball flies high and wide past the Newcastle net.

21' There's a little bit of pushing and shoving in the penalty area as an Arsenal corner comes into the box, which David Luiz meets at the far post, but Newcastle manage to clear the danger.

19' Every Newcastle player is back behind the ball defending now, with Arsenal starting to build the pressure on their opponents in an attempt to open the scoring.

17' Saka has seen a lot of the ball so far for the Gunners, he looks very dangerous in attack and the visitors defence are struggling to pick him up at times.

15' CHANCE! How did Aubameyang miss? Brilliant run into the box by Saka and he fires a low strike at goal, which is superbly saved by the feet of Darlow, but he can only push it out wide to Aubameyang at the far post. However, the striker can't sort his feet out quickly enough as he comes to him and it strikes the post and then away from goal.

14' Free-kick to Arsenal in a decent position down the right wing after Saka is brought down by Lewis. The ball is whipped into the box and met by David Luiz, but he can't quite get enough contact on it and Newcastle clear the danger.

12' The pace of the game is quite slow at the moment, with Arsenal not showing much intent to push forward and create an opportunity in front of goal. It is fairly comfortably for Newcastle at the back.

10' Arsenal have won 14 of their last 15 Premier League matches against Newcastle (L1), losing the other 1-2 in April 2018.

8' Good counter! Aubameyang finds space down the left wing, he drifts inside, but Lascelles does a good job of defending and making sure that he can't cut onto his right foot. The striker then has to skip past him on his left and his effort at goal from a tight angle is comfortably saved by Darlow.

7' The visitors manage to win the ball back in the Arsenal half and break forward quickly, it is played out wide to Krafth on the overlap, who tries to beat Tierney and deliver a cross into the box, but his attempt is really poor and goes out of play for a goal kick.

6' Decent ball over the top of the Newcastle defence looking for Saka, but he makes his run slightly too early and is caught offside by the visitors.

5' Carroll and Wilson should be able to cause Arsenal a few problems today, with the aerial presence of Carroll and the pace of Wilson, if they can get those linking up in attack.

3' As you may have predicted, it is Arsenal with the early possession here, they are keeping the ball nicely in their own half, with Newcastle getting everyone back to defend at the moment.

1' We're under way!

The teams are out on the pitch and kick-off is just a few minutes away, stay tuned for all the match action!

Steve Bruce has made eight changes to his Newcastle team, with only Darlow, Clark and Wilson keeping their places in the starting XI. Ryan Fraser is suspended after being sent off against Sheffield United. Carroll leads the line alongside Wilson up front, with Almiron and Joelinton out wide.

Mikel Arteta has made three changes to his side, with Tierney returning to the starting line-up, after missing the Palace draw last week, with Maitland-Niles dropping out. Partey and Cedric also come into the team, replacing Bellerin and Dani Ceballos.

Meanwhile Newcastle are winless in their last six league games, suffering five defeats and one draw, which came against Liverpool. They were beaten 1-0 by Sheffield United last time out and this poor run of form has seen them slip down to 15th in the table.

The two sides met recently, with Arsenal coming out on top in the FA Cup, with a 2-0 victory. Including that win, Arsenal are unbeaten in their last five games in all competitions, but they could only draw 0-0 with Crystal Palace last time out, to remain seventh in the Premier League table.
