LIVE: Barcelona vs Bayern Munich

39' Straight at Ter Stegen! Lewandowski is up highest from a corner but cannot properly put the Barca goalkeeper to work.

38' Another Bayern corner as Kimmich forces the ball behind off Lenglet after Davies carries the ball forward down the left. The Bayern left-back has actually been quiet by his standards!

36' High and wide from Perisic! The winger cuts inside from the left, with Pique losing out hopelessly, but cannot hit the target. Barca's insistence on playing out from the back continues to prove so costly.

35' Back come Barca - to no avail. Semedo attempts to get in behind Alaba in the area, but the Bayern defender's tackle does just enough to nudge the ball back to Neuer.

33' Barcelona have shipped four first-half goals in a Champions League match for the first time.

32' Goretzka dashes forward and shoots wide! Bayern are rampant. Barca cannot get a foothold.

31' This is the earliest a team has conceded four goals in a Champions League knockout match.

30' Finally some Barca respite through an offside flag! The LaLiga giants are reeling, despite having had a series of chances themselves.

29' SAVE! It should be four! This is incredible! Once again, as so often in this first half, Barca lose possession within sight of their own goal. Lewandowski nips in and Ter Stegen has to block with his foot. Staggering.

27' SAVE! Stunning save! But it comes from Ter Stegen's mistake! Perisic sends in a fairly tame cross from the left, but the goalkeeper parries out to Lewandowski. The striker is at an awkward angle but knocks an effort goalwards, only for the goalkeeper to react superbly and block with his knee.

26' Offside! Another Messi cross, and Lenglet is the man in the middle again! He gets his head to the ball this time but just misses the target, and the flag is up regardless.

26' Momentum is swinging back and forth! This is a better Barca spell. Messi delivers from the right and Boateng is forced to head clear in front of Lenglet.

25' It has been a while, but Barca get in again! Roberto is the man to advance on the right and a low cross is cut out by Boateng, this clearance avoiding the net.

24' Wild from Thiago! Kimmich rolls a pass into his path, but the former Barca midfielder blazes high and wide from 20 yards.

23' Alba briefly stays down after Lewandowski towers over the left-back in the air, but Barca choose not to allow their left-back to recover, launching another attack. Once more, however, Bayern force them back.

20' Comfortable save for Neuer! Messi cuts inside and shoots, but this is not his best effort as the goalkeeper holds on. That is a first real sight of goal for the Barca number 10, though.

19' Kimmich is fortunate to avoid a booking as he takes down De Jong, who runs clear after Ter Stegen punches a Bayern corner.

19' More Bayern pressure! Pique heads over his own crossbar as Kimmich loops a cross into the centre of the box.

18' Over from Goretzka! The midfielder meets Bayern's corner from the right but cannot keep his header down.

17' Thiago slides a pass forward and both Gnabry and Perisic have opportunities to control in the area, before Alba intervenes, only to concede a corner.

16' Passes out from the back have been so lax from both teams. Alaba allows Barca to gain possession in a dangerous position this time, although Barca are halted as a quick free-kick is pulled back.

15' Messi wonderfully shimmies into space to set Barca on their way. They are soon forced backwards by that Bayern press, though. The passage ends with Pique having to nod the ball back to Ter Stegen under pressure from a lurking Lewandowski.

13' Lewandowski volleys over! The two defences continue to play so recklessly. Ter Stegen hacks the ball straight to Thiago, whose swift pass finds Muller and then Lewandowski in turn. He cannot keep a difficult chance down.

13' A Bayern corner comes in from the left and Gnabry makes contact at the near post but cannot turn the ball goalwards. It drops behind for a goal-kick.

12' What a cross! Lenglet just gets there ahead of Goretzka! Muller feeds a gorgeous pass out wide to Davies, whose first-time delivery looks to be right on the money. Good defending.

11' Bayern are so, so vulnerable to the ball in behind. Suarez runs off the shoulder of Boateng on this occasion but is beaten to the pass by the covering Alaba. There are no signs of this contest slowing!

10' POST! This is chaos! Now the cross comes in from the right and Busquets cannot get proper contact! Messi's delivery bounces beyond him and hits the upright. Remarkable.

9' SAVE! Neuer rescues Barca! What a game this looks to be... Messi teases a pass down the right and Semedo slides in Suarez. He attempts to lift the ball over Neuer, but the goalkeeper blocks.

8' Alaba is the first Bayern player to score an own goal in the Champions League since Holger Badstuber against Napoli in October 2011.

5' Muller has now scored five goals in five Champions League appearances against Barcelona.

3' TACKLE! Vital work from Boateng! Barca are almost in for an early opener! Roberto advances down the right and plays a low ball across the back of the Bayern defence. It would reach Suarez but for Boateng's lunge.

2' Bayern are pressing high, meaning they soon have the ball back when Barca do attempt to move forward.

1' Bayern quickly gather possession and Boateng attempts a long ball in behind to Muller, who is onside. It bounces through to Ter Stegen, though.

1' KICK-OFF: Suarez and Barcelona get us under way in Lisbon!

At an average age of 29 years and 329 days, this is Barca's oldest starting XI for a Champions League match. Meanwhile, Muller makes his 113th appearance in the competition, a record among German players.

There is no room for Griezmann in the Barca XI, while Rakitic also makes way. Busquets and Vidal are back instead after serving suspensions against Napoli. As expected, Dembele makes the bench. Bayern are unchanged as Boateng recovers from the knock that forced him off at home to Chelsea.

Subs: Sven Ulreich, Ron-Thorben Hoffman, Alvaro Odriozola, Niklas Sule, Javi Martinez, Philippe Coutinho, Michael Cuisance, Lucas Hernandez, Corentin Tolisso, Kingsley Coman, Joshua Zirkzee, Jamal Musiala.

Bayern Munich (4-2-3-1): Manuel Neuer; Joshua Kimmich, Jerome Boateng, David Alaba, Alphonso Davies; Thiago Leon Goretzka; Serge Gnabry, Thomas Muller, Ivan Perisic; Robert Lewandowski.

Subs: Neto, Inaki Pena, Ivan Rakitic, Ousmane Dembele, Antoine Griezmann, Junior Firpo, Riqui Puig, Ansu Fati, Ronald Araujo, Monchu, Oscar Mingueza, Ludovit Reis.

Barcelona (4-4-2): Marc-Andre ter Stegen; Nelson Semedo, Gerard Pique, Clement Lenglet, Jordi Alba; Sergi Roberto, Sergio Busquets, Frenkie de Jong, Arturo Vidal; Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez.

Let's get the team news...

Bayern are the form team in the competition - unbeaten in 2020, with two domestic trophies to their name - and swept aside Chelsea. But while Barca have endured a testing campaign, they still have Lionel Messi. He was predictably central to their win over Napoli.

We have seen late drama in the prior two last-eight ties in Lisbon, but now it is the turn of two of Europe's biggest clubs and two of the tournament favourites.
