LIVE: Brighton vs Newcastle

That's all for now though, goodbye!

The result means that Brighton move six points clear of 18th place Fulham, while Newcastle remain just two points ahead of the relegation zone.

Brighton dominate Newcastle to claim a precious win in the relegation battle. Prior to this game, both teams were sitting precariously outside the relegation zone - and you expected a tight game. But Brighton blew a listless Newcastle away. Trossard opened the scoring with a wonderful curling finish from 20 yards on the stroke of half time. Newcastle struggled to create anything, but did have an opportunity to equalise when Fraser hit the post from 20 yards. However, Welbeck doubled their lead with an identical strike to the first early in the second half after a neat pass from Trossard, and Maupay completed the victory with an acrobatic volley to help Brighton move closer to safety.

90' + 3' FULL TIME: Brighton 3-0 Newcastle United

90' + 1' Maupay controls Zeqiri's cross but he can't quite engineer the space to shoot and the chance disappears.

90' Three minutes of stoppage time are added.

86' Newcastle have had just 34 per cent possession today and they're struggling to break into the Brighton half right now.

83' Welbeck's one-on-one chance is brilliantly saved by Dubravka, but the striker was offside and it wouldn't have counted anyway.

81' Chance for Gross! Brighton almost get a fourth as Welbeck cuts it back from the byline into Gross, who has a low, goalbound shot blocked away by Clark!

78' Brighton are comfortably enjoying possession now, with Newcastle showing little intent to recover in this match.

74' Fraser's 25 yard effort is easily gathered by Sanchez.

72' Shelvey's dispossessed by Bissouma in midfield, but the midfielder misplaces his pass and the counter-attack breaks down.

70' Newcastle look well beaten right now. Brighton are continuing to pour forward and you wouldn't be surprised if they added to their lead in the final 20 minutes.

67' Gross' corner is headed clear at the near post by Lascelles.

65' Newcastle have barely mustered a reaction to the second goal and the hosts are coasting currently.

60' Brighton are unbeaten in all seven of their previous Premier League meetings with Newcastle - and that record looks set to be extended today.

58' Newcastle look rattled currently as Fraser misplaces a simple pass into Shelvey, leading to another attack breaking down.

55' Well, Newcastle are in real trouble now. They've found it difficult to score all season and now they need at least two to prevent themselves from falling further into the relegation battle.

53' Moder gets in behind Manquillo, but he plants his shot straight at Dubravka from a tight angle.

50' Fraser hits the post! Newcastle sweep forward with a fluent move that ends with Almiron slipping Fraser in behind at an angle, and the winger hits a first-time, curling shot from 18 yards that clips the post before bouncing away!

48' Brighton will be looking to finish the job in the second half and improve on their dismal home form. They've picked up just one victory in their last 18 Premier League matches at home, beating Spurs 1-0 in January.

46' Brighton get the second half underway.

Newcastle failed to create any chances in that half and they'll need to show more intent going forward if they're to recover in this one.

Trossard's stoppage-time goal gives Brighton a 1-0 lead at the break. The hosts started this one brightly, with Moder spurning two clear chances. However, Newcastle managed to regain their composure and tighten up at the back, leading to a cagey half of football. Just as it looked like the match would be goalless at the break though, Trossard cut inside from the left flank and curled in a brilliant low finish to give the hosts a vital lead going into the interval.

45' + 4' HALF TIME: Brighton 1-0 Newcastle United

44' Hayden is going to be stretchered off after suffering a leg injury, signalling a lengthy delay in play.

42' Hayden's down and receiving treatment for an injury - it looks like he won't be able to continue.

40' Huge chance for Maupay! Brighton elegantly move it into Trossard, who cuts it back from the byline and into Maupay who has a shot blocked from close range by Clark!

38' Hayden nods Shelvey's deep cross well wide at the back post.

36' Bissouma tracks back superbly to shadow Joelinton's run in behind the defence, before executing the perfect slide tackle to dispossess the attacker.

34' Dubravka is struggling with an injury off the ball, and the game is delayed for treatment.

32' Welbeck finds space out on the left flank again and he drives in a cross that's flicked away by Dummett.

30' Welbeck gets to the byline after a fluent move from the hosts, but his scooped cross is headed clear by Clark.

28' Maupay rides a couple of challenges inside the box, but he can't wriggle past Shelvey who halts his route to goal.

26' Lascelles intelligently cuts out Maupay's threaded pass that was intended to go to Lallana inside the box.

24' After a bright start, the hosts have slowed down in the last 10 minutes. Both teams seem afraid of conceding a crucial opening goal.

22' Maupay can't quite latch onto Dunk's long pass.

20' Newcastle have yet to muster a shot and it's been a familiar story for them in the first half of matches this season. Only Sheffield United have scored fewer first half goals in the Premier League than Newcastle this season, while the Magpies have the lowest ratio of goals scored in the opening 45 minutes this term (32% - 9/28).

18' Clark angles another long diagonal up towards Joelinton, but Sanchez confidently sails out to claim it. Newcastle are looking fairly unimaginative in attack so far.

16' The hosts attempt to intricately pass through Newcastle on the edge of the box, but their interchanges are too slow and eventually the visitors regain possession.

14' Joelinton attempts to bring down a long pass inside the box, but he's outmuscled by Dunk and Brighton clear.

12' Bissouma places a low effort from 25 yards that trickles safely into the arms of Dubravka.

10' The hosts calmly knock it around the back as they continue to control the opening stages.

8' Gross drills in another dangerous cross that forces Clark to slide in to knock it behind. Dubravka is fouled from the resulting set-piece allowing Newcastle to regroup.

6' Brighton have made a strong start - they're dominating possession and they look capable of cutting through Newcastle with every attack.

4' Moder goes close again! Welbeck slips Moder in behind the defence and he opts to hit a first time effort from 15 yards that Dubravka scrambles to claim! Moder could have taken a touch there to create a better shooting chance, but he snatched at the opening.

2' Chance for Moder! Maupay's cross skids dangerously across the box, towards the back post where Moder slams it over the bar from a tight angle!

1' Newcastle United get the first half underway.

The players are emerging from the tunnel and kick off is just seconds away!

The visitors will be hoping to arrest their recent decline today. Since the turn of the year, only Southampton have picked up fewer points in the Premier League than Newcastle, with the Magpies losing eight of their 13 games so far this year.

Newcastle make two changes to the side that drew with Villa: Emil Krafth is replaced by Manquillo while Gayle drops out for Almiron.

Brighton make just one change to the team that beat Southampton last time out: Moder comes in for Burn.
