LIVE: Hungary vs England

Southgate makes only a single change from the Italy game, but that means a tweak to the shape, too. Winger Grealish – England's £100million man – is in for wing-back Trippier. Meanwhile, Hungary are bolstered by the return to fitness of Szoboszlai, who missed the Euros.

Subs: Sam Johnstone, Nick Pope, Kieran Trippier, Jordan Henderson, Tyrone Mings, Conor Coady, Bukayo Saka, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Jesse Lingard, Reece James, Jude Bellingham, Patrick Bamford.

England (4-2-3-1): Jordan Pickford; Kyle Walker, John Stones, Harry Maguire, Luke Shaw; Kalvin Phillips, Declan Rice; Raheem Sterling, Mason Mount, Jack Grealish; Harry Kane.

Subs: Denes Dibusz, Adam Bogdan, Adam Lang, Daniel Salloi, Tamas Cseri, Kevin Varga, Daniel Gazdag, Roland Varga, Mark Tamas, Janos Csaba Hahn, Szabolcs Schon, Nemanja Nikolic.

Hungary (3-4-3): Peter Gulacsi; Akos Kecskes, Willi Orban, Attila Szalai; Bendeguz Bolla, Laszlo Kleinheisler, Andras Schafer, Attila Fiola; Roland Sallai, Adam Szalai, Dominik Szoboszlai.

Hungary are no pushovers, though, and performed admirably in Group F at Euro 2020 in the so-called 'Group of Death' alongside Portugal, France and Germany - taking a point against the latter two heavyweights and almost making the last 16. It will certainly have to be a professional performance from England if they are to maintain their 100 per cent record in the pool.

Gareth Southgate's men must now regroup ahead of a qualifying triple header, with this fixture in Budapest followed by a home fixture against Andorra and a trip to Poland. England are three for three in a pool that, truthfully, they should have little trouble in escaping and punching a ticket to Qatar 2022.

The Three Lions are back in action for the first time since suffering heartbreak in the final of Euro 2020 against Italy back in July. Luke Shaw's early goal had put England on course for a memorable triumph at Wembley but Leonardo Bonucci's second-half equaliser preceded a penalty shoot-out victory for Roberto Mancini's side.
