LIVE: Saint-Etienne vs PSG

LIVE: Saint-Etienne vs PSG

Both Navas and Moulin have made vital saves to keep the scoreline at 1-1, and there is every chance we get more goals in the second 45 minutes. PSG need to try and control the game better if they can, but in fairness to Saint-Etienne, they are making life very difficult for the league champions.

The referee brings an entertaining first half to a close and Saint-Etienne have given an excellent account of themselves. Pochettino has not had it all his own way during his first match in charge, with Hamouma's strike opening the scoring for the home side. Thankfully for PSG, Kean equalised within one minute.

45' + 1' HALF-TIME - SAINT-ETIENNE 1-1 PSG.

45' PSG have weathered the storm for now, and there will be one minute of stoppage time at the end of the first half.

43' Big end to the half from Saint-Etienne, they have won three corners in a row, with PSG struggling to keep them at bay.

42' NAVAS!! The PSG goalkeeper makes his second big save of the night, this time to deny Debuchy. The former Arsenal right-back found space on the edge of the box before unleashing a volley towards the bottom corner. Navas has reacted brilliantly to turn his effort away from goal, that could have been some goal!

40' Five minutes to go before half-time, can either of these two find a goal before the break?

38' Play is back underway, and after having his shoulder checked over, Debuchy is back and fit to carry on.

37' Debuchy goes down in a heap after being sandwiched by Mbappe and Gueye. Mbappe gave him a little nudge, while Gueye has smashed into him and conceded a free-kick. He remains on the turf, and the Saint-Etienne medical team are making their way onto the pitch.

34' Di Maria cuts inside and makes his way into the box, readying himself to attack Dagba's cross. He manages to latch onto the end of the pass, but he puts too much power behind his volley and fires the ball over the crossbar.

32' If Saint-Etienne are to get anything from this match, Moukoudi is likely to play a big part. He nearly scored in the first few minutes, while he has made several important clearances at the opposite end of the pitch.

30' While he already has an assist, Verratti needs to work with Herrera and Gueye a little more to try and dominate the midfield battle. The Italy international is doing what he can to push forward, but his side needs him to connect the play a little more if possible.

27' Pochettino's men have enjoyed over 70 per cent possession so far, but they need to gain a little more control to make it count.

25' Before today's match, PSG had kept a clean sheet on ten occasions in Ligue 1 this season. No other team from the top five European leagues has more, but Saint-Etienne have already tarnished that record this evening.

21' This is a big test for Pochettino now as he tries to get his players back on the front foot.

16' As expected, PSG are starting to dictate the tempo of the game and dominate possession.

14' Three significant opportunities in just four minutes, this game could be a cracker if it carries on in the same vein.

12' WHAT A SAVE!!! Moulin keeps the game goalless thanks to a sublime one-handed stop, this time from a Marquinhos header. The visitors won a corner, which was met by Marquinhos but he is denied thanks to Moulin's heroic efforts.

10' KEAN! Just seconds after seeing Moukoudi go close, Kean tries his luck at the other end. Herrera's lofted throughball released the on-loan striker, but Moulin saved his effort.

9' SAVE!! Saint-Etienne win another corner and Moukoudi sees a powerful header saved by Navas at his near post. The centre-back towered over several defenders before heading for goal, but Navas was on hand to keep him at bay.

6' We are still just a few minutes into the game, but the pace is solid, with both sides keen to get the ball down and play quickly.

4' Kean is currently playing through the middle for PSG, with Mbappe on the left and Di Maria on the right. That may change throughout the night, but Pochettino has gone for pace down the flanks for the time being.

2' The home side have made a lively start here, winning a corner, while Debuchy has also seen a header flash wide of the post.

1' We are underway, Saint-Etienne in their green and white home strip, PSG will wear their purple away kit this evening.

The two teams are now on the field of play and kick-off is moments away.

Saint-Etienne will need to be at their best if they want to improve their record against PSG. They have won none of their last 14 league games against PSG, failing to score in nine of their previous 12 meetings.

After the 2-2 draw with Monaco before Christmas, Saint-Etienne boss Claude Puel makes five changes to his starting XI. Makoudi, Retsos, Youssouf, Nordin and Hamouma get the chance to impress, while Sow, Trauco, Camara, Noupa and Aouchiche drop out. In his first game in charge, Pochettino makes just two alterations to the team that beat Strasbourg 4-0. Gueye and Kean come in for Pembele and Rafinha.

SUBS: Alexandre Letellier, Timothee Pembele, Sergio Rico, Bandiougou Fadiga, Pablo Sarabia, Kays Ruiz-Atil, Julian Draxler, Abdou Diallo, Xavi Simons.

PSG (4-3-3): Keylor Navas; Colin Dagba, Thilo Kehrer, Marquinhos, Mitchel Bakker; Idrissa Gueye, Marco Verratti, Ander Herrera; Angel Di Maria, Moise Kean, Kylian Mbappe.

SUBS: Charles Abi, Maxence Rivera, Baptiste Gabard, Stefan Bajic, Adil Aouchiche, Miguel Trauco, Ryad Boudebouz, Alpha Sissoko, Aïmen Moueffek.

SAINT-ETIENNE (4-2-3-1): Jessy Moulin; Mathieu Debuchy, Harold Moukoudi, Timothee Kolodziejczak, Panagiotis Retsos; Zaydou Youssouf, Arnaud Nordin; Kevin Monnet-Paquet, Lucas Gourna Douath, Romain Hamouma; Denis Bouanga.

Despite their impressive results of late, Saint-Etienne are 14th in the league table and just six points above the relegation zone. On the other hand, PSG can return to the top of the Ligue 1 table if results go their way. Lyon and Lille are joint-top on 36 points, with PSG one point worse off in third.

Fourteen months after his Tottenham exit, Pochettino returns to the dugout with a point to prove. The Argentinean was linked with several high-profile jobs, but he joined PSG earlier this month, and he has had little time to prepare for the clash with Saint-Etienne. PSG are unbeaten in their last three matches, while the home side have not lost in six games.

Hello and welcome to today's live coverage of the Ligue 1 meeting between Saint-Etienne and Paris Saint-Germain. This evening's game is a massive occasion for Mauricio Pochettino, who takes charge of PSG for the first time since replacing Thomas Tuchel.
