LIVE: West Brom vs Chelsea

53' Abraham runs into the channel down the right flank and he wins a corner off the legs of Bartley. The Baggies are resolute at the back to clear the danger from the set-piece.

51' James swings a cross in from the right flank where Azpilicueta rises to attack the ball. The Spaniard's knockdown almost falls for Havertz, but the Baggies clear their lines.

49' Havertz turns in the final third and releases Abraham. The forward tries to roll a pass through to Werner, but Ajayi intervenes to send the ball behind for a corner.

46' We're back underway at The Hawthorns.

Slaven Bilic will be delighted with the scoreline at the interval. The Baggies have snapped up all three chances that have come their way to put the Blues to the sword. A big second half awaits the home side to see whether they are able to hold out for a vital victory.

West Brom hold a 3-0 lead over Chelsea at the break in their Premier League clash at The Hawthorns. Callum Robinson cashed in on defensive lapses by the Blues, including one from Thiago Silva, to notch a brace inside the opening 25 minutes. Kyle Bartley scored the third from close range after being left unmarked from a corner. The visitors missed two good openings through Tammy Abraham and Timo Werner, but it has been a woeful opening 45 minutes from Frank Lampard's men.

45' + 2' HALF-TIME: WEST BROM 3-0 CHELSEA

45' + 1' James sends a cross into the box for the Blues, but Ajayi does well to clear the danger. Kovacic goes for an effort from distance, only to clear the bar with his strike.

45' There will be two minutes of added time.

45' Chelsea (42) have conceded more goals away from home since the start of last season than any other Premier League side (Norwich, 38).

44' Sawyers makes a good run down the right flank and he works the ball back to Diangana on the edge of the box. He takes a touch before striking at goal on his left foot, but he skews his effort wide of the target.

42' Alonso strikes the free-kick at goal, but he succeeds in blasting his attempt straight into the legs of the West Brom wall.

41' Sawyers catches Kovacic on the back of the leg and he gives away a foul in dangerous position.

40' OVER! James has the freedom of the right flank. He cuts his pass back this time to Abraham in the middle, but the forward blazes his right-footed strike over the bar. Chelsea have not found their cutting edge today.

38' James has space on the right flank and again he angles a cross into the box that no one in a red shirt attacks in the middle. Lampard will be furious with his team at the break.

37' West Brom have scored more goals in 27 mins (3) than in their previous five Premier League games v Chelsea (2).

36' James continues to offer an outlet down the right flank and he fires a dangerous cross towards the near post that Johnstone punches behind.

34' Mount tries to turn the tide as he lines up a strike from distance, but his effort is deflected behind by Ajayi.

33' Silva is the first outfield player to make an error leading to goal on their Premier League debut since Issa Diop for West Ham versus Arsenal (August 2018).

32' Diangana lifts a dangerous cross into the box from the right flank, but Christensen is well placed in the middle to clear the danger.

31' Havertz leaves a boot in late on Furlong and gives away a free-kick on the right flank.

29' Chelsea are all over the place at the back. West Brom are finding space with ease in the Blues' half of the field.

26' Chelsea have made three errors leading directly to goals in the Premier League this season, equalling their total from 2019-20.

22' Pereira tries to work a pass into the feet of Diangana down the left flank, but the ball just overruns the winger and out for a throw-in to the Blues.

21' James forces a low ball towards the near post for the run of Mount, but he cannot twist with his back to goal to force an effort towards the target amid the presence of Bartley.

20' Mount turns into space down the right flank, but he just cannot offload in time towards Abraham under pressure from O'Shea.

19' Werner twists and turns down the left flank to force a ball across the face of goal. There's no blue red shirt in the middle to convert the opening for Lampard's men.

17' Chelsea have responded well since going behind and have dominated the contest. However, they're just lacking a clinical edge in front of goal.

15' OFF THE BAR! Werner is denied his first Chelsea goal by the crossbar. Mount turns past O'Shea and surges into the box. He cuts a cross back towards Werner on the penalty spot, who steers a strike airbourne towards the net. However, his effort clatters off the bar and travels over.

12' WHAT A MISS! Abraham should level the scores, but he guides his effort over the bar at the back post. James raids down the right flank and sends a perfect ball across the face of goal. Abraham is in the right place, but he can only steer his left-footed attempt over the bar with the goal gaping.

10' SAVE! Mount feeds Havertz on right edge of the box and the forward turns to shoot on his left foot. The German strikes his effort with power, but Johnstone watches it all the way to beat the ball to safety.

9' Both of Robinson's Premier League goals have come against Chelsea.

6' Mount drills his effort straight into the wall, although the referee spots an infringement anyway and awards a free-kick to the Baggies.

5' Livermore fouls Havertz in the final third and the Blues have a chance to hit back from a free-kick within the range of Mount.

1' Pereira clips a free-kick into the box from the right flank in the early stages, but it bounces straight out for a goal-kick.

1' We're underway at The Hawthorns.

Chelsea have won each of their last three away league games at West Brom; they have beaten them in four or more consecutive such outings twice previously – eight in a row from April 1985 to April 2011 and five between December 1964 and March 1969.

Lampard named a strong team during the week and has kept faith with the players that performed well against Barnsley. Caballero gets the nod to start ahead of Kepa between the posts. Christensen returns from suspension to partner Silva in the backline, who makes his Premier League debut. Alonso starts at left-back as Ben Chilwell does not feature in the squad. Mount, Kante and Kovacic form the midfield three with Jorginho on the bench. Abraham leads the line after starting the two previous league matches on the bench supported by Werner and Havertz.

Bilic rung the changes for his side during the week against Brentford, but has reverted back to the same team outside of the suspended Kieran Gibbs that lost to Everton. The only switch from that fixture sees Gibbs replaced at left wing-back by Townsend, while there's no place in the squad for Branislav Ivanovic to face his former club.

CHELSEA SUBS: Kepa Arrizabalaga, Jorginho, Ross Barkley, Fikayo Tomori, Olivier Giroud, Callum Hudson-Odoi, Cesar Azpilicueta.

CHELSEA (4-3-3): Willy Caballero; Reece James, Andreas Christensen, Thiago Silva, Marcos Alonso; N'Golo Kante, Mateo Kovacic, Mason Mount; Kai Havertz, Tammy Abraham, Timo Werner.

WEST BROM SUBS: Hal Robson-Kanu, Matt Phillips, Rekeem Harper, Kyle Edwards, Cedric Kipre, David Button, Sam Field.

WEST BROM (3-4-3): Sam Johnston; Semi Ajayi, Kyle Bartley, Dara O'Shea; Daniel Furlong, Jake Livermore, Romaine Sawyers, Conor Townsend; Matheus Pereira, Callum Robinson, Grady Diangana.

Chelsea crushed Barnsley during the week as Kai Havertz notched a hat-trick to send the Blues through to the third round of the EFL Cup. Frank Lampard would have been delighted with his side's response to their defeat against Liverpool last time out in the Premier League. The Blues were impressive to see off Brighton and Hove Albion in their opener and will be eyeing another three points on the road today.

West Brom have endured a difficult start to their Premier League campaign, losing their opening two matches. Leicester City inflicted a 3-0 defeat on Slaven Bilic's men before Everton ran out 5-2 winners at Goodison Park last time out in the top flight. The Baggies did beat Harrogate in the second round of the EFL Cup, but were knocked out of the competition by Brentford on penalties during the week. Bilic needs a performance from his team this afternoon to stop the negative momentum.
